Requirements:

  1. Put the corresponding author's email address directly within <email> in <contrib>
  2. Use @corresp="yes" on <contrib>
  3. Ensure that a duplicate copy of the above <email> is included within <author-notes><corresp>
  4. Do not put empty email tags in <corresp>
  5. Put the corresponding author's name within <corresp>. Do not include other contact information, such as a phone or fax number. The author's name and email address should be set up according to whichever of the following four rules applies to the article:
  1. If there is only one corresponding author and the article is in English (@xml:lang on <article> = "en"), then include the text "Corresponding author: " set in bold tags, followed by the author's name and then the email address in parentheses (see example section, below)
  2. If there are two corresponding authors and the article is in English (@xml:lang on <article> = "en"), then include the text "Corresponding authors: " set in bold tags, followed by the authors' names separated by the word "and", with each of their email addresses in parentheses after each name (see example section, below)
  3. If there is only one corresponding author and the article is in French (@xml:lang on <article> = "fr"), then include the text "Auteur correspondant : " set in bold tags, followed by the author's name and then the email address in parentheses (see example section, below)
  4. If there are two corresponding authors and the article is in French (@xml:lang on <article> = "fr"), then include the text "Auteurs correspondants : " set in bold tags, followed by the authors' names separated by the word "et", with each of their email addresses in parentheses after each name (see example section, below)
  5. If the article only has a single author and the article is in English (@xml:lang on <article> = "en"), then include the text "e-mail for correspondence: " set in bold tags, followed by the email address (see example section, below)
  6. If the article only has a single author and the article is in French (@xml:lang on <article> = "fr"), then include the text "Courriel de correspondance : " set in bold tags, followed by the email address (see example section, below)

1. An English article with one corresponding author:
<corresp><bold>Corresponding author:&nbsp;</bold>J.R.  Ewing (<email>jrewing@bellsouthnet.com</email>)  </corresp>
2. An English article with two (or more) corresponding authors:
<corresp><bold>Corresponding authors:&nbsp;</bold> J.R.  Ewing (<email>jrewing@bellsouthnet.com</email>)  and Lee Majors (<email>lee.majors@osi.com</email>)</corresp>
3. A French article with one corresponding author:
<corresp><bold>Auteur correspondant&nbsp;:&nbsp;</bold>J.R.  Ewing (<email>jrewing@bellsouthnet.com</email>)  </corresp>
4. A French article with two (or more) corresponding authors:
<corresp><bold>Auteurs correspondants&nbsp;:&nbsp;</bold> J.R.  Ewing (<email>jrewing@bellsouthnet.com</email>)  et Lee Majors (<email>lee.majors@osi.com</email>)</corresp>
5. An English article with only one author:

6. A French article with only one author:
